PAULINA ORTIZ arte textil / textile art PAULINA ORTIZ – Costa Rica Artista textil, se graduó en la Escuela de Artes de California en 1983. Preside la recientemente fundada Red Textil Iberoamericana, asociación creada por artistas y curadores con el objetivo de promover y desarrollar diferentes aspectos de la Cultura Textil. Fue designada como Coordinadora internacional de la IV Bienal Internacional de Arte Textil y Diseño “Hombre + Mujer = Creación” que se realizó en el Centro Cultural Costarricense-Norteamericano. Trabaja actualmente en talleres, obras por encargo en el ámbito público y privado y consultora en el área de Diseño Textil. Ha participado en numerosas exhibiciones individuales y colectivas en su país y en el exterior. Entre las más importantes figuran: 22° Bienal Internacional de San Pablo, Brasil 3° Bienal Internacional de de La Habana, Cuba Arte x arte-Hilo x Hilo en Como, Italia SOFA New York 2006/2007, The Internacional Exposition of Sculpture, Objects and Functional Art Juan Diego Roldán, Crítico y curador de arte ha dicho de ella Paulina Ortiz define su lenguaje estético logrando un balance entre la estructura  textil y su función sociocultural,  impactando estéticamente no sólo con su diseño sino con ese evidente respeto histórico que el material, de por sí, posee. Textile artist, she got her degree in Fine Arts at the California College of the Arts, 1983. President of the newly founded Ibero – American Textile Network, an association created by Ibero – American  Artists and Curators with the objective of promoting and developing  different aspects of Textile Culture. Appointed as International Coordinator of the IV International Biennial of Textile Art and Design "Man+Woman = Creation 2006", given at the Costa Rican – North American Cultural Center. She is currently working at her workshop on private and public commissions, and  is also a consultant in the area of Textile Design. She has participated in several individual and collective exhibitions, nationally and internationally. Some of the most important ones are  22^nd International Biennial of Sao Paulo, Brasil;  III International Biennial of la Habana, Cuba; Arte&Arte, Philo&Filo in Como, Italy SOFA – New York 2006/2007,  The Internacional Exposition of Sculpture, Objects and Functional Art. Juan Diego Roldán , Art Critic and Curator said Paulina Ortiz expresses herself aesthetically, achieving a balance between the framework of  textiles and its sociocultural function, creating an artistic impression not only through her design but through the obvious historical respect that the materials themselves  inspire.
